Door to a Pink Universe

I am thrilled to be reading Chameleons at Central this coming Sunday, April 10 at Seattle Public Library’s National Library Week kick-off event and celebration of their Door to a Pink Universe flash fiction contest.

Why?

  • The contest honors Octavia Butler, an amazing writer and first woman of color to gain real recognition in speculative fiction. She spent the latter part of her life in the Seattle area.
  • Nisi Shawl will be there! And I already know she liked Chameleons, because she was a contest judge. That helps somewhat with my fangirl anxiety.
  • SPL rocks! It is my favorite library system ever (and I’ve lived in areas with some great ones), in part because of the events. Having sat in the audience in Central’s auditorium and dreamed of looking up into the seats from the podium, this is super exciting.

If you’re local – see you there!
